Production Manager

Job Information

As a Production Manager you will be responsible for the planting, harvesting, packing and dispatch of Herbs from our purpose built glasshouse and handling facilities. Ensuring adhesion to customer specifications, the management and organisation of staff, product safety, and the overall productivity of operations. Alongside the management of Rubicon in the production process.

Duties include:

  • To ensure full compliance with statutory and Company Health and Safety regulations.
  • To ensure all practices and procedures executed on the nursery comply with the Food Safety Act.
  • To maintain and develop effective communications between Team Leaders and staff.
  • All product quality is supplied to the specifications as set by our customers.
  • To identify any procedures to improve hygiene and working practices and to help implement these improvements.
  • Management of production staff rota’s
  • To ensure that all new procedures and practices comply with BRC/HACCP and other certifications.
  • Ensure that all products comply with Customer Specifications.
  • Together with the Technical Manager oversee that that technical jobs within production are carried out on time and to a high standard; Routine glass and brittle plastic audits, calibrations, and micro and environmental swabbing: Reporting and updating additional equipment if there is any threat to product quality safety along with QA.
  • To plan weekly production in line with forecasted volumes.
  • To monitor and manage volumes, waste and productivity.
  • To be responsible for implementing / maintaining BRC/HACCP standards within the Production area.
  • Implement lean working principles to drive forward the organisation as a least cost producer.
  • To ensure the adequate training and supervision of all staff, including agency workers
  • To ensure the continual development of your team to give maximum flexibility and adequate cover in times of absence.
  • To control absence, timekeeping including break times and conduct in depth Return to Work interviews following all absences.
  • To motivate and communicate with the team to ensure maximum performance levels are achieved.
